For no particular reason at all, other than the fact that I love fondue, I am hosting a Fondue Party! I can see it now - some cheese and beef fondue, followed by a delicious dark chocolate fondue for dessert, will all disappear quickly, as they get dipped in by various warm breads, fruits and vegetables, which will be eaten by my ten very peculiar guests.
Oh, I almost forgot! Did I mention who my ten guests (and ONLY ten) were that I invited to come to my party?
There is no doubt that John Lennon will be first to arrive, as he is always on time and very punctual. He will probably bring his own fondue and offer to help with the cooking. Plus, being the nice guy that he is, John will offer to entertain us with some fabulous music...and if he doesn't offer, I will make him sing.
I don't know who will be second to arrive, but if it happens to be Brent Butt, I will be very happy! Always great for a laugh, Brent will liven up the party. However, with his comedic genius comes a big appetite. I may have to make extra fondue to fill Brent's slightly rotund stomach!
Also invited to the party is my favourite Montreal Canadiens player, Josh Gorges, who currently resides in Kelowna, British Columbia. It will be amazing to talk to Josh and know the life of a professional hockey player! Apparently he is a funny guy too - laughter is always welcome at my parties! You never know, he may even be able to 'connect' me with other hockey figures as well?
Next, this guest will no doubt strut in looking majestic, for he is none other than Napolean Bonaparte! That's right, I am talking about the most famous French military commander who brought glory to France. I will be able to talk to him about previous military campaigns and battles battles he took part of, and maybe even discuss some Risk (registered trademark), strategies with him!
A well respected figure around the world, Walt Disney, the man that created Mickey Mouse and the countless other famous cartoon characters, is a no-brainer on my list of invites! I am not exactly sure what I will talk about with Walt, but I do know that I will be in awe when I meet the man behind the empire and magic of Disney! I remember watching Mickey Mouse cartoons as a child, and going to Disney World several times (I love that place!) - so to meet the creator behind it all, will be spectacular!
With a smirk on his face, Roger Federer, the greatest tennis player of all time, will probably be the last to arrive. I do not exactly know what makes me say that - it's just a gut feeling. Then again, I could be wrong - Roger is from Switzerland and fondue is a delicious Swiss food, so he could surprise me and be the first to arrive! Whenever he arrives, it will be amazing to meet yet another one of my favourite atheletes!
Likely arriving together, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley, the famous trio from some of my favourite books, will definitely be magical additions to the party. Get it? Magical additions to the party? Ha-ha...
Moving on, the last on my list of ten guests will be one of my childhood idols! I am talking about, of course, Mary Poppins! One of my favourite movies as a child, if not the favourite, was Mary Poppins. If any of us at the party get sick and we need to take medicine, we will know what to do thanks to Mary - just take a spoonful of sugar! Mary will also get to meet her creator, Walt Disney...that should be a great experience for her! Plus, with her magical ability to clean up messy rooms, she will hopefully be able to help with the dirty dishes after the party! Thank you in advance Mary Poppins!
So there you have it! Those are the ten guests that will be arriving shortly at my fondue party. I invited an interesting assortment of characters, wouldn't you say? I am really looking forward to meeting all of them. I sure hope my party lives up to their expectations!
